Brisbane Office Design

Client: Hudson Recruitment

Category: Brisbane Office Design

Location: Brisbane CBD

Overview:  Modern Concepts partnered with RAW Commercial to design a versatile and welcoming office space for Hudson Recruitment. The office design and fitout was intended to present an open-plan yet practical space that would accommodate future growth at the organisation.

Design Brief:  With a dynamic and growing workforce, the client’s brief was to design an office space with multiple work areas. Suitable privacy and acoustic considerations were needed to ensure the space not only looked welcoming and modern but was also fit-for-purpose for the client’s busy office.

An open plan design, natural lighting, acoustic treatments, practical meeting rooms and private work spaces were a priority for the client.

Modern Concepts designed an office layout that saw the existing footprint completely reimagined to create more open spaces and introduce more natural light.  Glass panels were used instead of sheeted walls around key areas such as meeting rooms. Light coloured flooring and crisp white walls combined to ensure the space had a light and bright feel.

Practical breakout zones were created including workstations, quiet zones, relaxing breakout areas and an impressive welcome zone upon arrival.

An operable glass wall in the front of house zone was designed to give the space flexibility allowing the board room and meeting zone to be opened up, creating a larger area that connected to the kitchen area for functions and events.

A unique collaboration room was also created deliberately utilising sheer curtains instead of hard walls.  The openness of the space and softness of the sheer curtains were careful considerations designed to create a space that was welcoming, relaxed and less structured.

Curved lines were used to further convey a sense of openness and softness. This included the use of curved furniture and scalloped cabinet fronts as well as the creative laying of contrasting carpet in a curved pattern in key areas.

Hard flooring areas were offset with neutral carpet tiles for areas where acoustic considerations were essential including meeting rooms, work spaces and breakout rooms. Black accents and black painted ceilings in key areas ensured the eye would be drawn to the office views and lighter spaces, further creating a sense of space while also hiding key infrastructure such as ducting.

Cleverly concealed storage cabinets doubled as greenery privacy screens for selected work zones while soft furnishings including, ottomans, upholstered bench seating and cushions softened the space.

The overall layout was designed to create open plan spaces with purpose and included open-plan ‘welcoming’ area, with a boardroom, meeting room, five quiet working areas, breakout areas, 36 workstations and utilities spaces.
