Overview: Modern Concepts was engaged to design the new office space for Home Instead, Birtinya.  The 360 sqm commercial space was to be transformed into a contemporary and stylish space where training and support services for caregivers and aged care residents could be provided.

Design Brief:   The space was originally a large concrete shell so the brief was to transform that space into a welcoming, functional and ambient environment for the business.  Client rooms, meeting rooms, offices, a kitchen, storeroom and amenities were required.

To create the ambient atmosphere outlined by the client, Modern Concepts incorporated clever design features including round windows in dividing walls to draw in natural light and minimise sharp lines.  Striking 3m high ceilings provided a sense of space and allowed for enhanced light.  Tall timber door frames elongated the space to again create a sense of space while also providing a tactile, warm element to the design.  Timber look vinyl flooring was utilised to provide a durable and practical surface and laid in a herringbone pattern to add a contemporary look throughout.

An operable wall enabled for the flexible use of space, with the area opened up for large gatherings or closed off for smaller spaces and breakout functions.  A contemporary kitchen was designed to provide a relaxing space for staff and guests to share meals.
