Client: HDI Global

Category: Commercial Interior Design

Location: CBD, Brisbane

Overview:  Modern Concepts partnered with RAW Commercial to design a sleek and contemporary Brisbane office space for HDI Global.

Design Brief:

As a global leader in the industrial insurance sector, the client’s brief was to create a light and bright workspace that aligned with their contemporary brand and created a sense of presence for both visitors and staff.

Drawing upon the brand’s presence within the industrial space, a contemporary industrial theme was created.  Industrial finishes were used and given a contemporary whitewashed colour palette. This included leaving the ducted ceiling visible but treated with white paint to reflect light and ensure the ceiling height still look generous despite the air-conditioning infrastructure. In keeping with the contemporary industrial brief, light-coloured polished concrete floors were also utilised key traffic areas.

An open and flowing spatial plan was designed and included a welcome and reception area, boardroom, meeting room, two quiet rooms, a communications room, and a staff kitchen and breakout space. An open plan working area for 20 staff and additional utilities spaces were also established.

Soft finishes were used to enhance acoustics including plush carpet is select areas, flowing sheer curtains in the board room, upholstered accent seating on client facing areas such as the welcome area and board room and privacy panelling in the open plan working area.

A white colour base was consistently drawn upon to foster light and create a sense of openness.  To further whitewash the space, neutral carpets, white furnishings and white light sconces and pendants were selected.  Warm timber laminates and terracotta accents were used to offset the crisp white colour palette to ensure the space wasn’t clinical and would remain warm and inviting.

Bronze-anodised aluminium and brass trims added further contrast to the white colour palette.
